hand over her mouth to hold in a big gufah as she imagines the latest fashion as
the wearing of shoes shaped to look like this, or maybe like that, kind of fish.
Accepting the children's laughter in the background, Mr. Rayus calmly contin-
ues to tell Miss Tickle, "Well, Miss Tickle, with frogs on my head, and fish on
my feet, having a sensible conversation with anyone was beyond hope. It was
truly impossible. When I described the pattern that the 'Pattern Maker' was
making to Mr. Fixit, he told me that the ends of the letter strings in the weaver
had become loose and they need to be tightened, so the strings are rightly taut;
then he told me, but with a wink, 'And so with your little learners here, makin'
'em rightly taught, will lessen the noise they make.' He offered to look into it
this weekend ..., but the purple frogs and fish had set his mind to wondering."
Now, Tianna turns towards Sam and Rory and says, "I know Mr. Fixit. I saw
him fixing the slide after it went ka'ploowee; and he fixed it." Turning to Elisha,
Tianna says, "You'll see, Elisha, Mr. Fixit will make the way Mr. One'stone talks
to Miss Tickle all fixed, too." Elisha tells Tianna, "I hope so; I like the way Mr.
One'stone is in the learning room with us better than looking over at the door.
"Yes, I agree Elisha," begins Miss Tickle, "but since the new 'Pattern Maker' has
gone ka'ploowee ..., uhhh, ..., I mean, ..., is in need of a proper looking into by
Mr. Fixit, so he may fix the loose letter strings in the weaver, ..., Mr. Rayus and
myself might use the 'Glow and Tell' window of the 'Talking Door' to converse.
